Our Beginning

River City Calvary Chapel started as a small home Bible study in 1990. At that time, Pastor Mike Butera felt a strong leading from the Lord to establish a church in Sacramento that would focus on teaching God’s Word with clarity and conviction. What began in a humble setting—a rented room in a local bowling alley—was the first step in what would become a growing community of believers.

In a world clouded by confusion and brokenness, we are dedicated to teaching the truth of God’s Word, shared in love, bringing hope and transformation.
